As we contemplate our local issues
, leaving Washington far
behind, my mind often
falls to my own soft bed.
What if I didn’t
have a bed? What if I didn’t have a chair with 4 walls around it that
kept me safe, cool or warm?
“Chief”
, a long-time
resident of the sidewalk on South Lamar and Ben White, cannot look to
Washington for help. Leaving some food or a blanket is our job as fellow humans
who live close by.
Dreams to
Change the World
– the most successful ones have a solid plan or system to create it.
In the Community First Village we have found a template
, a solid repeatable plan to conquer
homelessness.
Yes, there are some outliers like “Chief” who will
never settle down but for many this is the community, safety, security
and even money
that they need.
It’s a community that is a
little different than the ones on Main Street.
Every one of us
can do something - Recycling, Volunteering,
Conserving, Voting !
For 2019
and the Future Austin Roofing and Construction will be
Donating at Least 5 Free Roofs
to the Community First! Village
as it Expands –

& Maintenance Package
for all
of the Residences

In 2018
we
met
the creator of Mobile Loaves & Fishes, the founding
non-profit for Community First! Village, Alan Graham & his COO
Kevin Shepherd.
They took us on a strolling tour through a dream made into a reality ...
We
were so captured by what they, Alan, his team & the residents, are
creating
that we joined forces wholeheartedly with them. They are
creating works of art
be the medium steel,
glass or canvas
with paint & all are for sale! They, the residents,
work the auto shop
that will change your oil while you
volunteer - for a small fee of course. Sword anyone? There's a
Forge!
They are building their own businesses!
The vision of
empowering & changing the lives of so many at the same time is awe
inspiring still!
We are proud
to be a small part assisting in this amazing show of love & humanity gone
right.
